Sue Ellen Fenelon
Sue Ellen Fenelon is a principal policy advisor, currently responsible for integrating and aligning policy development across natural hazards, climate change adaptation and urban & infrastructure.
Sue-Ellen’s time in Auckland’s urban catchment planning spanned more than 25 years and included seeing the evolution of policies and design approaches to manage urban stormwater quality, use of flood modelling to inform integrated land use planning and development decisions and working on both sides of the comprehensive network discharge consenting processes.
With a desire to have more influence in the policy space, Sue-Ellen completed a Master of Public Policy in 2015, joining MfE the same year. During the 8 years since then, Sue-Ellen has provided policy advice for water, climate change and RM/reform, infrastructure, valuing natural capital, climate-related financial disclosures and led the project to establish the Climate Commission.
