Toby Kay

Nelson City Council

Toby joined Nelson City Council 5 years ago as the Stormwater and Flood Protection Activity Engineer and focusses primarily on asset management, strategic development and flood risk mitigation. He oversees the flooding and coastal hazards assessments for Nelson. Toby started his career with the National Rivers Authority in the UK and worked for 9 years on flood schemes with Northland Regional Council before moving to Nelson. He is a member of the NZ River Managers Group, and of RedR (Engineers for Disaster Relief). Over the course of a decade he was deployed as a water engineer, and emergency coordinator in a range of humanitarian crises in Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
